THE AGENCY CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF SUCCESS!
.

As a conclusion of the agency’s 30th anniversary celebrations, a surprise reception was held at the Pointe-à-Callière Museum in Montreal, honouring Claude Choquette and Luc Jutras.
Counting on the presence of many of the agency’s partners – some with whom we have had the privilege to collaborate for many decades and who contributed to our agency’s success – the president of the agency, Jean-Sébastien Dufresne, and the whole team took the opportunity to highlight the important contribution of two major actors of the publishing industry.
A commemorative plaque was unveiled during the evening :
For its 30th anniversary, Montréal-Contacts / The Rights Agency wants to honour Claude Choquette and Luc Jutras for their countless efforts devoted to the publishing community, their invaluable expertise, their passion and talent, for their remarquable contribution to the outreach of the North American literary production and for having inspired a new generation, committed to pursue their work with the same passion and same rigour, in order to honour the profession and to serve the publishing industry.
We warmly thank all of our partners who participated to the event and contributed to its success. Many of them traveled from far in order to celebrate with us. We would like to especially thank our friends and colleagues Iris Tupholme and Lisa Rundle of HarperCollins Canada from Toronto, Cynthia Fowles of Inner Traditions from Rochester, Vermont, the author and speaker Arlene Johnson from Dallas, Texas, Jennifer Smith of Wiley Canada from Toronto, and Peter Vegso and Christian Blonshine of Health Communications from Deerfield Beach, Florida, who even produced a commemorative binded book including thoughts and souvenirs from our foreign corresponding agents.
Founded in 1981, Montreal-Contacts / The Rights Agency (now myRIGHTS International) built its success on over 4,800 sales of translation and adaptation licences in over 50 languages and between over 1,600 publishers. Claude Choquette founded the agency and partnered in 1998 with Luc Jutras in order to transfer the ownership. The Agency still contributes to the broadening of the international scope of North American publishers and facilitates their acquisition of rights for their catalogues.
