This story of ssionate love between a Canadian and her Cambodian lover evokes their tumultuous relationship in a world of colliding values. Set against the backdrop of horrific loss, these two self-exiled lovers struggle to recreate themselves in a world that rejects their hopes. Spare, unrelenting, and moving, The Disappeared is an unforgettable consideration of love, language, justice, and memory set against the backdrop of the killing fields of Pol Pot. |

Mot de la Directrice littéraire, Ms Nicole Winstanley:
All of us at Penguin Group (Canada) are incredibly proud to be publishing this brilliant novel in spring 2009 as one of the first titles on our inaugural Hamish Hamilton Canada list. I hope you’re as knocked out by this novel as we are. It’s truly spectacular.
